Police hunt three escapees in NSW

THREE minimum security inmates have escaped from a jail in NSW's north.

They were last seen at 6.30pm (AEDT) on Thursday when they were secured in their unit at the Glen Innes facility.

They were discovered missing on Friday morning shortly after 7am, police say.

The inmates are Zac Cree, 25, Ashley Cullen, 21, and Reegan Freeburn, 24, from Grafton.

Cree was serving a maximum sentence of three years and nine months for driving and break and enter offences and his earliest release date is December 16 next year.

Cullen was serving four years and nine months for break and enter, fraud and taking and detaining a person and was due to be released on February 28 next year.

Freeburn was serving a three-year maximum sentence for assault, stalking and intimidation and recklessly wounding and was due for release on October 2.

The escapees were last seen wearing prison greens.

Police say anyone who sees the men should not approach them and contact police immediately.
